Heavyweight cotton, screen-printed six miles up the road in Easthampton. The flame sits small on the left chest — the same mark that is on the door.

It is the shirt the floor staff wear on a Friday, which is the only endorsement we have.

The cloth, and how it wears

What it is made of

Ten-ounce combed cotton, cut straight, pre-shrunk once so the second wash does not surprise anybody. The seams are double-needled at the shoulder because that is where a shirt worn twice a week gives out first.

Washing it

Cold, inside out, hung to dry. The print is water-based and sits IN the cloth rather than on it, so it softens with the shirt instead of cracking away from it.

If it fades, it fades the way the awning outside has faded, which we consider the point.
